DIRECTIONS

As a modern society, we have lost our sense of direction. I do not mean that we are morally bankrupt, although that may be true in some cases. I mean that we are unfortunately unaware of the energies of directions, although there is a faint archaic reference in the story, The Wizard of Oz, in which the directions are aligned with specific ‘witches’.

Most churches of all denominations around the globe have their doors open in the east. If there is an altar, it too faces east. Ancient peoples and those indigenous peoples who are relatively unscathed by what we term “civilization” also face certain directions, drawing upon the qualities of the directions to enhance and fortify the intent of their prayers. This is something that I learned from my Beloved Elder, Shakmah Winddrum, many years ago.

It is an ancient belief that the four principal or chief Archangels: Raphael, Michael, Gabriel, and Uriel rule the four cardinal directions of east, west, north, and south.

Turn to Archangel Raphael in the east to enhance the qualities of illumination and enlightenment within you. All things begin in the east. The sun and moon rise in the east. Native Americans believe that the soul enters this dimension and becomes infused into the infant from the east direction. This is the direction of spring and new growth.

Archangel Michael rules the south. This is the direction of relationships and emotion. Michael offers comfort and consolation when we feel unsteady in our relationships. Michael is also the Protector Angel, providing defense and safeguard when we pay attention through our intuition and insights.

The west is ruled by Archangel Gabriel, the messenger. The west is the direction of rebirth in the sense that we can dissolve old patterns and habits that are no longer serving our highest benefit and develop or birth new, better ways of being. Gabriel is the Angel that told Mother Mary that she was pregnant with Yeshuah, who we know as Jesus. You can consult Gabriel when you want good, clear communication skills, or whenever you want to be a better messenger.

The qualities of wisdom and clarity are enhanced in the north, which is ruled by Archangel Uriel. These qualities are symbolized by crystal clear ice and pure, white snow. This does not mean that we need to be cold as ice to be clear, but with a warm heart and caring concern, we can learn to be clear within ourselves as we learn to have clarity with others.

Whatever direction you are facing at the moment, resolve every day to communicate with your beloved Angels who are always ready, willing, and able to guide and protect you.

Infinite Blessings from your Infinite Angels.
